There’s a problem with teh internet today . it is awfully claustophobiac and infested by control freaks. governments that surreptitiously keep track of every website you visit. offices that insist on controlling every bit of information you download. and service providers at home that fancy themselves as the moral police.
For the reason alone , it makes sense to explore the internet underground . geeks call it the darknet -a part of the internet that remains unseen , undetected and completely below the radar. this story is definative primer on the darknet . because entry to the darknet is by invitation only . this story only attempts to tell u on its existence and lead the way to some entry points . what u make of it and how u use it is entirely up to u.
BRIEF HISTORY-
If u access the internet, chances are , at some point in time , u my have download music off it . there is one man you have to thank for that . Justin Frankel, the underground software rock star of the internet. at 18 , he created Winamp- for all practical purposes
Those days , it impressed american online (AOL) – then the largest internet services (ISP) in the US so much that they paid Frankel $100 million to buy the software and a promise from him to develop it further . it didnt take him too long to hate it . in a brilliant attempt to snub the system he worked for , he created Gnutella – a software client that lets people trade music online- and put it up for the world to use on AOL website Gnutella allowed people to connect to each other directly . it works like this . assume that u and i have gnutella loaded on our computer . once we connect to the internet , you can see what music i have on my machine . if you like , you can dowload it off my terminal , so long as i am online
An appaled AOL tried to pull the rug from under gnutella feet by pulling the software off its website . by then it was too late . Over 10,000 enthusiasts had downloaded it on the very first day and it spread like wildfire FRANKEL later created another software WASTE . AOL sacked Frankel and pulled WATSE off their website . but it still hasnt stopped the darknet
